Wallet by LifeOS

Privacy policy

Last updated 25 October 2026

In short: Wallet by LifeOS does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. Everything you enter stays on your device. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics.

This policy describes how the Android app Wallet by LifeOS (package com.foundyworks.wallet), published by Foundy Works (“we”), handles information.

Information we collect

None. The app does not ask you to create an account and does not send any information to Foundy Works or to any third party. We have no server that receives your data, and the app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs. The only outside services are the exchange-rate download and receipt scanning, described below.

Exchange rates

To convert between currencies, the app downloads the public list of exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com) about twice a day. The request asks only for the list; no records, balances or details about you are sent with it. The service sees the request as any website would see a visit, including your IP address. You can turn market rates off in Currency rates and enter every rate yourself; rates you set always take priority.

Receipt scanning and attachments

When you scan a receipt, the photo is read on your phone by Google ML Kit's text recognition, which is built into the app; the photo is never uploaded. ML Kit may send Google anonymous information about how the feature runs, such as performance and errors, but never the photo or the text read from it. If you choose to attach the photo, it is kept with the records it created.

Photos and files you attach to records, debts or repayments are copied into the app's private storage and go nowhere else. Deleting the record deletes them. They are not part of the JSON backup file.

Information stored on your device

The financial information you enter, such as accounts, balances, records, categories, budgets, goals, planned payments, debts, shopping lists, attachments, exchange rates and settings, is stored only in the app's private storage on your device. Other apps cannot read it. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes it permanently.

Android backup

Android may include the app's data in your device backup, depending on your Google account and device backup settings. Such backups are created, stored and encrypted by Google under your Google account, according to Google's own privacy policy. Foundy Works has no access to them. You can turn device backup off in Android's settings.

Export and backup files

You can export your records to a CSV file, or save a full JSON backup, using Android's system file picker. These files are written only to the location you choose, such as your device storage or a cloud drive you select, and are then under your control. They are not encrypted, so keep them somewhere safe. Restoring a backup reads only the file you pick.

In-app purchase

The app is free. An optional one-time “Support” purchase is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment details. The app only asks Google Play whether the purchase has been made, so it can unlock the extra themes. Google's handling of the payment is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

Permissions

The app does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone or SMS. Places you add to records are names you type; your position is never read. Photos are taken with your phone's own camera app and handed back one at a time; the app itself has no camera permission. Files and pictures are only accessed through the system pickers, or when you share an image to the app from another one, one file at a time.

If you turn on reminders, the app asks for permission to show notifications, and it is allowed to run its daily check again after the phone restarts. Reminders are worked out on the phone from your own data; nothing is sent anywhere.

App lock

If you set a PIN, only a salted, scrambled form of it is stored in the app's private storage. The PIN itself is never stored or sent anywhere.

Group sharing

Sharing an account creates a file with that account and its records. You choose who to send it to and how; it does not pass through any server of ours. The person you send it to can import it into their own copy of the app.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.
